Maya's Greek Trend-Style in Hair

Maya came to Athens ready to set the trent in hair braiding.
We see Hannah staring in awe, and jealousy?, at Maya's locks.  Go Maya! (Oh, she's waiting on Slave Stephanus for some wine!)

Fillets for the After-Court Fun!

Slave girl Sophia helps the citizen Gusacrese, recently going by Granmacese, make his fillet for the court and the symposium.
 Isaiahtiades works out his leaves.
 Holdenopolus shows off his foliage.
Gusacrese opts for the discreet fillet.
Hannah practices her little girl stare for her speech.

Citizens Dress Themselves Up for Court

Hannah and Maya took a visit to the cobler and picked up a pair of Greek sandals

 It really makes the outfit!

Dolmas for Dinner

The Greek citizens showed their slaves what they could do when it came to making delicious dinner items.
Maya scoops up some awesomely seasoned rice.
Gusacrese and Isaiatiades roll the rice into grape leaves.
And Holdenopolus and Hannah take a break from the hard work.
The dolmas were very good after steaming.  They will be great at the symposium, assuming the gods don't kill the prosecutors for bringing the charges against them.

Fibulae Made to Put on Best Dress for Up-coming Court Festivities

The Citizens kicked the metics, the immigrant workers, out of their shops and designed and made some brooches themselves.
The flower decorated fibulae were very popular.

As well as the bird decorations.

We all can't wait to wear our fancy new fibula on our chitons and himations!

Typical Athenian Citizens Pass the Time Bickering over Everything

No sooner had the opening greetings been given than the citizens made up a game they called Apples to Apples in which they could practice their reasoning skills and disagree with each other over every conceivable point, such as whether an apple is the same thing as another apple.
Here we see Holdenopolus rejecting Hannah's argument that 501 jurors is superior to 601 jurors because the smaller number will ensure more of the jurors not only pay attention, but also understand the arguments that are being made.  Holdenopolus, seconded by Gusacrese, hidden from view behind Isaiahtiades, argued that not only 601 was a better number, but that even 1501 jurors would be best!
Olive, Sophia, and Maya demonstrated the strength of Hannah's point by paying no attention whatsoever to the debate!

Zeus Sends Rain Storm to Stop Proceedings of Myth Court

Zeus, seen here summoning the storm clouds, tried to disrupt the citizens of Athens from beginning their Myth Court.

He demolished the pavilion the slave Stephanus had just erected for Wednesday's post court symposium.  You can see the carnage just past the new Vulcan Grill and Zephyr Umbrella.
The slave Stephanus, the current chief slave of the host Hecate, spent several moments cowering in the basement of Hecate's house, but was coached out to continue hosting the opening events.

Here Hecate says, with a sneaky chuckle, that there's nothing to worry about.  Not with the potions she has cooked up!

Myth Court Begins!

Watch out misbehaving gods, the citizens of Athens are getting ready to take you to trial!

Holdenopolus and Isaiahtiades discuss recent and ancient misbehavior over a skyphos of delicious λεμονάδα.

Maya (rhymes with Gaia) showed up to discuss the gods in her very stylish chiton and himation.

Camp is starting soon!

Greetings Camp Friends!

Our late August session is sold out!  There are still openings in the other sessions however.  And if you think you might want a session for the week of August 19 - 23, let us know.  We're tempted to put an additional Sherlock Holmes week together.

Thanks!
