How Does a Pool Work

While studying water, we took some time at the Maplewood pool to learn about how the water is made safe for us to swim in.

Here Vicky tests the water for pH levels and for bacteria.  The chlorine, a dangerous chemical when handled directly or in large doses, is put into the water in small amounts to kill bacteria and to manage the pH level, so the water is not harmful to our skin.

Here Vicky shows us how screens at the scimmers collect debris so the water stays clean.
